ACCTivate! Knowledge Base

Does ACCTivate! (CYMA edition) support 64-bit editions of Microsoft SQL Server and/or Pervasive.SQL

The ODBC driver is used by Microsoft SQL Server to "link" to Pervasive.SQL and the architecture (i.e. 64-bit) must match.

  • 32-bit version of Microsoft SQL Server requires 32-bit Pervasive.SQL ODBC driver
  • 64-bit version of Microsoft SQL Server requires 64-bit Pervasive.SQL ODBC driver

Unfortunately, Pervasive v10 did not include a 64-bit ODBC driver.  There is ONLY a 64-bit driver for the Transactional Engine.  ACCTivate! uses the Relational (SQL), not the Transactional (Btrieve) engine.

Therefore, 64-bit editions of Pervasive.SQL and/or Microsoft SQL Server are NOT yet supported.

Quote from What's New in Pervasive.SQL v10 (PDF):

Pervasive PSQL supports the transactional interface on native 64-bit operating systems running on machines with 64-bit architecture. The support applies only to the transactional interface and to the SDK interfaces Btrieve and DTI (see "SDK Interfaces"). The relational interface is 32-bit only. The relational interface functions the same on 64-bit operating systems as it has in previous 32-bit releases.

NOTE: Last reviewed with Pervasive.SQL 10.30 (SP3)

Pervasive has recently released the Pervasive.SQL v11 database engine.  Pervasive.SQL v11 DOES include a 64-bit ODBC driver.  However, CYMA Version 12 does not support Pervasive v11.  We expect that support will be added in a future CYMA update.  We will test for compatibility, once it is officially supported by CYMA.
